Maple shaker kitchen with full granite backsplash

The room came back to bare wall and subfloor before a single cabinet went in.

A stripped-back kitchen rebuilt in warm maple shaker cabinetry, with granite carried from the countertop all the way up the wall.

This kitchen was taken back to the studs. The old wall units came off, the tired tile floor came up, and the plumbing and electrics were reset before any new cabinetry arrived, which is the only way to get a run of units to sit straight against an older wall.

The replacement is maple shaker, full overlay, in a warm natural finish, with long brushed pulls that suit the horizontal lines of the drawer bank. Rather than break the wall with a separate backsplash material, the granite runs from the countertop right up to the wall cabinets, so the stone reads as one continuous surface behind the sink and the range.

Under-cabinet lighting washes down across the granite and picks up the movement in it, and a wood-look tile floor carries the warmth through at ground level. Stainless appliances keep the working end of the kitchen practical.
